Used in a number of different muscle builders and natural testosterone boosters, most of these products were discontinued due to lack of sales or other problems in 2009. However, the official recall of all of these products was issued in September of 2010 due to various complaints made to the FDA. It no longer qualifies as an appropriate set of ingredients to be used in nutritional supplements of any kind except for in prescription form for certain disorders in women.
But many wonder what is so bad about aromatase inhibitors. They sound like a great option. They have been used in women with cancer, endometriosis, and various other disorders. And by limiting estrogen production in the body while encouraging testosterone production, it seems like a perfect solution that will help many men to get more of the muscles building, sexual health, and other results that they want. So what are the side effects that led to its removal from the over the counter market?
Decreased bone mass-Over time, whether used in cancer stricken women or bodybuilding men, aromatase inhibitors begin to decrease natural bone mass. This can lead to brittle limbs, osteoporosis, and many other problems, even including arthritis and other joint issues over time.
Decreased sperm count-Unfortunately, this disrupts the natural process of testosterone production in men, leading to a lower sperm count and other problems. Over time, this can eventually lead to infertility and various other unfortunate issues in male sexuality. This kind of damage seems to be irreversible.
Aggressive behavior-Anabolic steroids were the first major testosterone boosters known to promote problems with aggressive behavior. Higher testosterone levels as a whole tend to have this effect. But in this case, it is disproportionate to the amount of testosterone actually being produced.
Andrenal Insufficiency-the adrenal glands are located right above the kidney, and it is responsible for producing essential steroid hormones. When you take this away, it can lead to problems with addison’s disease, congenital adrenal hyperplasia, cushing’s syndrome, and a number of others, naturally reducing the production of cortisol.
Hypercholesterolemia-extremely high levels of cholesterol can act as a silent killer. It can lead to serious heart problems, and eventually heart attacks. This is one that doctors need to pay close attention to in any patient using any aromatase inhibitor.
Kidney failure-leading to problems with bloody stool, bad breath, easy bruising, changes in mood, decreased appetite, fatigue side pain, hand tremors, high blood pressure, metallic taste in the mouth, nausea, vomiting, nosebleeds, persistent hiccups, prolonged bleeding, seizures, swelling of the hands and feet, and increased or absent urination.
Liver problems-When it leads to liver dysfunction, aromatase inhibitors can cause lack of absorption of essential nutrients, low immunity, hormone imbalances, digestion issues, and issues with natural fat regulation.
