There are some people who golf as their main source of fitness. And then they ride in those little buggies. Have you ever noticed that a lot of those people are also overweight old men? My brother in law is not old, but he is fat, and frankly he uses that as his exercise. It’s not like he only exercises every once in a while in that way, he’s always out playing golf, practically every day. You would think that it’s his job. But frankly, he is overweight, because he doesn’t use any other exercise methods.
This is because as much as you like to think that oh yes you’re swinging and it has to be powerful, you are not actually building any muscle, using any cardio, and especially if you use the cart, no real exercise at all. Many pro golfers are really good at their game. They have great swings, and generally speaking they are not overweight. They ride in carts during tournaments to save their energy and strength. But what many don’t seem to realize is that they are also exercising outside that.
They are running, lifting weights, etc, because the work they do outside of the golf course actually improves their body and adds to their swing ability among other things. In general terms, they actually take care of their bodies, because they know that exercises add to their swing, their swing does not add to their exercises.
